SAGE ESTIMATING

DATABASE DEVELOPMENT
Other Important Considerations when Developing or Enhancing your Database
  • Coding Schema Levels (such as MasterFormat Levels 1, 2 & 3) support the ability to Drill Down or roll up your data and related costs at each level. This should be carefully planned out unless starting with a pre-built database such as Sage or R.S.Means/Guardian.

  • Standardized Estimate Views for all users should be available while allowing each estimator to manage their own. This is typical for managers that may need to analyze project risks, durations etc.

  • Cost Categories and the Estimate Items they Contain are key to Accurate Cost Analysis. This is one of many database conditioning factors that ensure costs and data are highly organized to support every step through:

    • Estimate Cost Analysis with Similar Projects

    • Development of Schedules and Cost Loaded Schedules

    • Schedule of Values

    • Buy-Out, etc.

  • Estimating by "Man Days" has its place with some specialty contractors or where self performed work may take place. We have Solutions for this regardless of your Sage Estimating version.
