SAGE ESTIMATING
SAGE ESTIMATING MANAGEMENT CONSOLE (EMC)
With hundreds if not thousands of estimates over the years and by any number of estimators, Estimate Management Tools are a Necessity to be able to Locate, Copy and Preserve any Estimate at any Time. All estimates should be capable of Contributing their Valuable Data for Analysis across groups of estimates based on any number of Classification Types.
For this, EMC is just the tool you need and it resides in the same SQL Server as your Sage Estimates Databases. EMC has it's own easy to use built in Access Controls and other security features where SQL Database Estimates are Inaccessible through Windows Explorer and therefore keeping them safe from broken file paths or deletions.
EMC is a Separate but Integrated Management Program for all estimates and could be one of the Most Underutilized Components of Sage Estimating. This is primarily because of the detailed Project Information required for it to be fully functional.
Too often many estimators enter only the bare minimum project information in order to get started with a new estimate. Some of these could include:
-
Client Name and Contact Information
-
Estimate Type
-
Building Type
-
Project Classification
-
Estimator
-
Start Date, etc.
Without much of this data, EMC's filtering features of Job Classifications aren't fully functional resulting in questionable results.
Conditioning your Estimates with Job Classifications provide much of the Required Data to Filter for the desired Aggregated Data Results. The Results of Estimate Queries base on "Accurate Job Classifications for All Estimate"s provide much of the Unit Cost Validation and Cross Referencing Costs for New Estimates.
Sage's EMC allows you to add as many potential Sage Estimating Users necessary and each assigned their own Role.

Estimate Catalogs (File Trees) can be Configured any way needed. All File Management is done through EMC including copying, moving, deleting, archiving and creating Branches.
It's important to note that the Estimating Management System can be configured where Only Managers Control its Features while still allowing each estimator to input any required project information including the Job Classification information shown below.

The Address Book provides all the information needed for your Suppliers, Vendors, Subcontractors, Clients etc. and allows for quick access during the estimating process.
All assigned contacts for each estimate are transferable into Accounting or Project Management software as well
